United Food Bank, 12News, and Fry's Food Stores launched their Summer of a Million Meals campaign to raise $200,000 to help provide one million meals for food insecure families in Arizona.

The fundraiser kicked off mid-May and will run through Labor Day—telethons are scheduled on July 10 and August 14 while a Food Drive Friday event was held on June 14 at the Mesa volunteer center on 358 E. Javelina Ave.

Ivanka Koleva, 52, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the second-degree murder of her husband, Stefan Koleva, whose body was found stabbed and shot at their Gilbert home nearly two years ago – police recovered a gun from a Tempe store and family members reported her unusual behavior before the death.

On June 5, the Town Council lowered Queen Creek's primary property tax rate from $1.63 to $1.55 per $100 of assessed value—reducing the average homeowner’s tax bill to about $434.

The measure, part of a five-year freeze begun in 2022, is expected to save residents nearly $557 overall—helping to stabilize tax costs amid rising home values.
