- ➤ State water officials approved the first legal transfer of water — from rural Arizona for housing in Buckeye and Queen Creek — on Friday. Queen Creek may withdraw up to 5,000 acre-feet per year to support about 15,000 homes while Buckeye may withdraw up to 5,926 acre-feet for more than 17,000 homes, though both cities must still finalize water delivery plans before building permits are issued.
