- ➤ The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to locate 16-year-old Sophia Spurlock, who was last seen leaving her Queen Creek home near Ellsworth Road and Cloud Road at around 5 p.m. Sept. 3 after texting her mother she would not return—she is Hispanic with brown hair and eyes, stands 5 feet tall, weighs 141 pounds, and has a history of running away; anyone with information should call MCSO at 602-876-1011 and reference report No. IR25022280. - ➤ The Queen Creek Town Council approved the annexation of over four acres of land at the southwest corner of Signal Butte and Riggs roads on Sept. 3 — paving the way for a planned new church. Mayor Julia Wheatley is on leave to care for her family — and the measure passed unanimously by the council shows strong local support. Queen Creek Independent
- ➤ Queen Creek Town Council approved a new 65-foot wireless communication tower at South Crismon and East Ocotillo roads that will work with three mobile carriers and is designed to resemble a tree. The tower is located about 1,200 feet southeast of the intersection at the Ameripark RV Storage facility—more than 10 acres in size—and was approved by a 6-0 vote on Sept. 3 while Mayor Julia Wheatley took leave to focus on her family.
