- ➤ Tomorrow, Oct. 18, Praise in the Park will be held at Pecan Lake Entertainment as Nancy’s Closet and For Our Town host an event that connects families with local nonprofits, faith-based groups and entrepreneurs through music, games and other attractions; tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for children (the first 100 families receive a swag bag and 10% of all proceeds benefit local nonprofits). - ➤ Queen Creek will host the Light the World Giving Machine—a vending machine that lets residents support local nonprofits—from Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Dec. 7. Queen Creek Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ An eighth grader at Eastmark High School was removed from basketball tryouts due to a 14-year error on his birth certificate that labeled him as female—his parent submitted a corrected certificate and a doctor’s note but the district said additional testing might be needed to change his athletic eligibility. School officials said they remain open to working with the family to find a resolution. AZ Family
