Tomorrow, Oct. 18, Praise in the Park will be held at Pecan Lake Entertainment as Nancy’s Closet and For Our Town host an event that connects families with local nonprofits, faith-based groups and entrepreneurs through music, games and other attractions; tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for children (the first 100 families receive a swag bag and 10% of all proceeds benefit local nonprofits).
Queen Creek will host the Light the World Giving Machine—a vending machine that lets residents support local nonprofits—from Friday, Nov.
15 through Sunday, Dec. 7.
An eighth grader at Eastmark High School was removed from basketball tryouts due to a 14-year error on his birth certificate that labeled him as female—his parent submitted a corrected certificate and a doctor’s note but the district said additional testing might be needed to change his athletic eligibility. School officials said they remain open to working with the family to find a resolution.
