Queen Creek will host its QC Hometown Christmas tree lighting (6 to 8 p.m. on Dec.

5 at 21802 S. Ellsworth Road) and its Christmas parade (10 a.m. on Dec. 6 in the Town Center) next month. The events will feature local performances, food trucks, family activities and shuttle services while some roads face temporary closures.

Early Monday afternoon at Queen Creek Junior School, during a fire drill just before 2 p.m., a bee swarm stung 41 students and staff - 4 students were evaluated as school officials investigate the bees' source.

During a fire drill at Queen Creek Junior School shortly before 2 p.m., about four students were stung by bees from a 70-pound hive on the athletic field—school staff and students were quickly evaluated, no one was taken to the hospital, and the hive was removed by 5:15 p.m.

A national funeral home services company asked the Queen Creek Town Council to approve a funeral home on 2.72 acres at the northwest corner of Ocotillo and Hawes roads.

The project still awaits annexation of a 0.14-acre parcel currently in Maricopa County—approval is pending.
