- ➤ Queen Creek will host its QC Hometown Christmas tree lighting (6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 5 at 21802 S. Ellsworth Road) and its Christmas parade (10 a.m. on Dec. 6 in the Town Center) next month. The events will feature local performances, food trucks, family activities and shuttle services while some roads face temporary closures. Queen Creek Independent
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Monday afternoon at Queen Creek Junior School, during a fire drill just before 2 p.m., a bee swarm stung 41 students and staff - 4 students were evaluated as school officials investigate the bees' source. AZ Family
- ➤ During a fire drill at Queen Creek Junior School shortly before 2 p.m., about four students were stung by bees from a 70-pound hive on the athletic field—school staff and students were quickly evaluated, no one was taken to the hospital, and the hive was removed by 5:15 p.m. AZ Family
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A national funeral home services company asked the Queen Creek Town Council to approve a funeral home on 2.72 acres at the northwest corner of Ocotillo and Hawes roads. The project still awaits annexation of a 0.14-acre parcel currently in Maricopa County—approval is pending. Queen Creek Independent
