Queen Creek resident Debbie Castillo-Smith was named the new CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona on Thursday after serving as interim CEO since April.
She has worked with the organization since 2007 and will lead its mission into the next chapter of growth and impact.

A miscommunication over a scheduled lockdown drill at Queen Creek High led to an unintended districtwide lockdown when a 911 call from a student alleging gunshots prompted police to secure the campus—officials later confirmed no threat and cleared the site.
