- ➤ The People of Diverse Abilities Family and Resource Career Exploration Conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 26 at Central Arizona College’s San Tan campus at 3736 E. Bella Vista Road in San Tan Valley. Organizer Mary Gloria Foundation said the event will help families of youth ages 14 to 22 with intellectual or developmental disabilities learn about self-advocacy, career paths, personal growth and available local community and government resources — the event will also offer swag bags, food boxes and hygiene products. - ➤ Queen Creek Unified students gain leadership skills through the Leader In Me program, which teaches goal-setting, teamwork, and problem-solving in daily classes. The framework—based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People—adds project-based learning and student-led conferences that help them take charge of their success. Queen Creek Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Queen Creek Police Department earned accreditation through the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP), marking a milestone for the agency that started in January 2022; Police Chief Randy Brice said the achievement shows the department’s dedication to high standards and that it will renew its accreditation every four years.
